Grace Presbyterian Chancel Choir The chancel choir is a mixed twenty-five voice soprano, alter, tenor and base (SATB) ensemble comprised of both professional and amateur singers. The choir provides music for Sunday services and performs in concerts and special events. The music focus is on the classical canon, renaissance, baroque, classical and romantic works as well as contemporary music and meets for rehearsals from September to June on Thursdays at 7:30 pm. Thursday, July 27 is the 110th anniversary of the dedication of the church building. Information from the 50 Years of Service 1913-1963 pamphlet states, “On July 27, 1913, our present building, with a seating capacity of over twelve hundred, was formally opened by the Reverend Dr. Patterson of Cooke ’s Church, Toronto, assisted by the Reverend John McNeill, also of Toronto, and dedicated to the Service of Almighty God.” Since this date, Grace Presbyterian Church has seen many changes in the building and the church family that inhabits it. New Interim Moderator and Role Terms at Grace
The Presbytery of Calgary-Macleod has named the Rev. Dr. Jean Morris as Grace’s Interim Moderator effective June 1, following the resignation of the Rev. Greg Smith. As the Interim Moderator, Rev. Jean has specific terms of reference with two primary areas of responsibility. Grace Impact on Women and Children at RESET
Grace has worked with RESET for many years by providing Grace House, a safe living location that helps support young women and their children. RESET Society of Calgary helps women and children who are victims of sexual exploitation and/or sex trafficking. RESET reports that more than 90% of trafficking victims within Canada come from Canada - there are approximately 3,000 women and girls involved in sexual exploitation in Calgary.
