Preaching Grace 2024: Scripture: Play and Possibility with The Rev. Dr. Richard Topping

Preaching Grace 2024: Scripture: Play and Possibility with The Rev. Dr. Richard Topping

Does the Bible open doors or close doors?

How can we position ourselves and the Bible to open us to transformation?

Can we play with Scripture?

What do we wonder as we explore different perspectives of the narratives?

How does the authority of scripture draw us in and what are the virtues that makes us better Bible readers?

Come and engage with the Rev. Dr. Richard Topping and other curious Christians on these questions and more.

“Every time I return to the Bible, I am surprised by what I find there, by the miraculous play of possibilities it insists on opening up before me and before the church community that lives in its divinely enchanted world with me.” Serene Jones, “Inhabiting Scripture, Dreaming Bible”

About Grace Presbyterian Church

Grace is a community of people shaped by our Christian faith and our relationships with each other. We think it’s people that matter. Our Christian community is about each of our stories and how we grow and change over a lifetime of experiences.

The congregation of Grace Presbyterian Church has gathered on the corner of 15 Avenue and 9 Street in SW Calgary for more than a century. In that time, we’ve had the privilege of being present to the evolving stories of individuals and families (sometimes generations of a family) who worship with us or live and work in the community around us.

Every one of us is on a journey. We are committed to creating a space where you can be encouraged, supported, and loved as you walk the road you’re on.
