Session Highlights
At its regular meeting on November 11, the Session:•
- Opened with worship, reflecting on Psalm 146 and prayer
- Welcomed Service Elders and Deacons for presentations by David Turner and Heather Christie-Burns on their learnings from two Stewardship-related conferences. Both emphasized the linkage between spiritual growth, gratitude and generosity
- Agreed to recommend to the congregation for its approval, the 2025 budget proposed by the Financial Management Committee
- Appointed David Turner as Convener of the Financial Management Committee, and expressed thanks to David Caldwell for his service in this role
- Approved updates to the Roll including the membership of Jennifer Williams and Kim Joiner. Supported communication with members who have not been participating in the life of Grace
- Agreed to remove Worship and Music from the Terms of Reference of the Spiritual Growth Committee. This is aligned with the Book of Forms, where the minister/ministers is/are responsible for the conduct of and content of public worship. Session continues to be responsible for setting the hours of worship and special services, including the administration of the sacraments (Communion and Baptism)
- Approved 2025 Strategic Priorities, to help guide Grace’s Committees in their work for the next year
- Agreed to complete a comprehensive, inclusive strategic planning process in 2025 for 2026 – 2030+
- Approved the installation of two new banners on the east side of the building, highlighting Grace’s 120 years in the Beltline
- Gave thanks for the many examples of volunteer service and received updates on Christmas outreach, and Children and Youth activities
- Closed with prayer and benediction.
