English as a Second Language
Grace offers a unique program for adult newcomers to the City of Calgary who are interested in improving their English language skills in a safe, relaxed and fun environment.
The Goal of the Program:
The goal of the program is to encourage participants to utilize their existing English language skills, and with the help of our volunteer instructors, build on these skills in an informal “conversational” setting.
There are five sessions available from September to May. Each session is six weeks in length.
Within each session there are 18 classes held Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30 – 12:00 noon each day.
Please see the ESL Calendar Schedule for the dates of each session.
The Location of the Program
The classes are held in the dining hall in the basement of Grace Presbyterian Church. There is controlled access to the church, and information regarding access will be provided upon registration. There is also free parking at the rear of the church with a validation pass provided by the church. (The pass is only valid from 9:30 to 12:30 p.m. each day.)
There is a cost of $30.00 per session for educational materials and refreshments.
The program has experienced tremendous growth over the past several years. Volunteers are needed to meet this continuing growth. Although some teaching experience is preferred, we welcome and appreciate assistance from interested volunteers. A job description and more information are available upon request.
